American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC)
The JDC has provided international relief efforts for Jews and non-Jews suffering from natural and man-made calamities. In so doing, they have accumulated a large data base of information regarding relatives, friends and ancestors affected, as well as “over 3 miles of text documents; over 100,000 photographs; a research library of 6,000 books; and approximately 1,500 audiovisual materials, including 200 oral histories,” according to JDC personnel.
One may access the archives at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) Archives as well as the JDC Names Index (http://archives.jdc.org/archives-search/?s=archivestopnav).
